On a warm June evening, in a beautifully aged building in central Taichung, we gathered not just to sip coffee\u2014but to connect with the world.<\/h2>\n

One caf\u00e9. One brand. One origin. <\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

This was more than just a coffee tasting for 15<\/span> guests. It felt like a journey. Together with Indonesia\u2019s coffee brand Paper Knot Coffee<\/span><\/a> and local Taichung caf\u00e9 HAUSINC<\/span><\/a>, we hosted \u201cSolright<\/span> \u00d7 Indonesia Coffee Tasting Vol.2<\/span>.<\/p>\n

The event was held at HAUSINC 1035<\/span>, a thoughtfully restored space that once served as a hospital during the Japanese era. Now, it\u2019s full of stories, design, and soul. With beautiful surroundings, rich coffee, and meaningful conversations, every moment became a blend of senses and culture.<\/p>\n

Coffee Flavor Is the Language of the Land<\/h2>\n

Flavor doesn\u2019t come from technique. It comes from the land. <\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

We were honored to have Gilbert<\/span>, the founder of Paper Knot Coffee<\/span>, guide us through the tasting. With passion and detail, he introduced each unique Indonesian coffee\u2014from Sumatra to Java to Bali\u2014sharing how local farmers use natural sun-drying, wet-hulling, or even carbonic maceration to express the true character of their region.<\/p>\n

These beans were handpicked during our visit to World of Coffee Indonesia<\/span> (WOC) this May. About 15 <\/span>unique coffees, each from different Indonesian roasters, brought the true taste of their homeland straight to our table.<\/p>\n

The surprise of the night \u2014 the 2023 World Coffee Roasting Champion.<\/i><\/i><\/p>\n

Toward the end of the event, we welcomed a very special guest\u2014Taufan Mokoginta<\/span>, the 2023 <\/span>World Coffee Roasting Champion and founder of Ultra Coffee<\/span><\/a> Indonesia.
Taufan shared his journey of building a coffee brand in Indonesia and walked us through the flavor profiles and processing methods behind several Ultra Coffee<\/span> selections.
